Should kids be allowed to chew gum at school to promote dental health?

I chewed gum almost daily while growing up (sugarless of course), and didn 't get a cavity until it was 26th I asked my dentist if gum helped him and say that helps to remove the food from your teeth after you eat. Since the schools claim to be concerned about the dental health of children, but don 't grant them time to clean their teeth, wouldn' t for children supports power chewing a piece of gum after meals?
