Its almost 2009!! asked:

My child is growing up in an apartment. Take you to park nearby or go head of the bike. But I am curious about how long ago that children in homes in tension spend outside. Just want to know if my child? spending enough time outside?

During the summer we are outside daily with lots of sunblock for at least a couple hours. Now that its colder we might spend 20 minutes or so outside, but not if anyone has a runny nose or seems like they have an ear ache. There are also days when we don’t make it outside to play, which I think is fine as long as you don’t let them park themselves in front of the tv all day.

We have a very large backyard and when its warm enough outside, i have my kids go out and play - they can ususally be outside almost the entire day. We also live on a cul-de-sac so they can ride bikes or in the backyard they can play on the swing set, in the sandbox, play basketball, baseball and in the summer they spend 99% of their time in the swimming pool! As long as they get some outside time, its fine. My sister used to live in an apartment and her daughter NEVER was outside as my sis was too lazy to take her to the park, etc. I would go and get her sometimes so she can come to our house and play!

My son likes to go out when ever he can (daily) light and weather permitting… riding bicycle, quads or just trucks and cars. Money well spent paying for a bigger Back Yard.
