Parents tell me what you think is more important regarding your child’s?

Training. Think about their health or education is more important? Children should drop to 30/45 minutes of time learning at school daily, leaving the sun and exersize, what is most important in the long term? Should the government pay for a teacher in each school to go to work one hour earlier to offer a free exersize program for children in the mornings?

i do think that they need that time to exercise/play/be outside. Just because they are getting that hour during school, does not mean they are jeopardizing their education - I believe it’s a part of educating them to take care of themselves.

Yes I think kids need to have 30-45 mins of exercise while in school every day. Don’t they do that in their PE classes already though? I don’t think kids will get to school an hour earlier for it though.

Kids get recesses they shouldn’t have to pay a teacher for an extra recess after school. Before and after school is the parent’s responsiblity.

It shouldn’t be an either/or question. Children need exercise to learn about their bodies and they need an education to expand their mind. The curriculum in a school should have a balance of activities that help the child build his/her development in the areas of physical, cognitive, and social-emotional growth.

i think education is important, but so is their health, the children have a break anyway during the school hours to play and rest outside, and there is usually sport played at most schools anyway….and there is still time left after school or even on the weekends for children to do some exercise, and get plenty of sunshine.

I think that they are both equally important. I think that physical education is important to a child. Look at all the overweight/obese children in schools now. We had PE the entire time I was in school. I think that encouraging children to be physically fit is a good thing. Exercise works for more than just the physical aspect of a human also. I know that when I work out, it releases a ton of stress. I always feel so good mentally after a good work out. I feel refreshed & my mind feels clearer. I think it would help kids tremendously to keep (or bring back) PE in the schools. They can still get a quality education while still enjoying the benefits of physical education. Another thing that PE helps with is getting out all that pent up energy that doesn’t get released if a kid is sitting in a classroom ALL day. It makes things easier on the kids and teachers alike. I don’t think it should be considered an extra…..I think that they should make it a part of the childs daily schedule of classes.

There is enough time in a day for a child to get the proper amount of exercise without missing any school. You just need to balance your day better. Both exercise and education are important. They can be balanced. However, it is not the responsibility of the educational system to see that your child gets exercise, proper meals, and health care to maintain their health. That is the parents responsibility.

It’s in the very middle of the day. I think a break for a child is needed, they tend to shut down if you do anything with them without a break for 4 hours or more.
And, I atleast think the children need some exersise.

If you’re genuinely interested, go find a copy of the current issue of ‘Mothering’ magazine; it’s got a good essay on recess.
“If there’s one thing children know how to do, it’s play. Unfortunately, unstructured free time—especially at school—is fast becoming a thing of the past. In “Give Me that Old-Time Recess” (page 54), Christine Gross-Loh discusses why kids need to just mess around: both their mental and physical health benefit from schoolyard fun. So why does one first-grader mentioned in this article not even know what recess is?”
