Would you let your school-age child play at a friends house if you knew one of the parents was a smoker?

Don 't smoke in the house. Exits to have a smoke and know that. Believe that uncomfortable leaving your game by children over to their house?

I would let them play. Kids are exposed to things. Hopefully you have taught them well.

Of course i would let my child!
You cant be so protective. They need to be exposed to certain things to become well-rounded individuals.

I wouldn’t mind unless my child came back smelling like smoke, or mimicked smoking..

I do to a certain extent…my 8 year old has a friend that she likes playing with and both of the friend’s parents smoke, both in and out of the house. She always smells when she comes back from their house but I just limit the amount of time she spends there. Eventually they’ll start avoiding the place themselves…I think it’s better to talk about why we don’t smoke in our household and teach tolerance for those that do.

As long as she is a good parent and watches her children. The little expose your child may get probably won’t hurt. Just change you child’s clothes and give a bath when they get home to get any lingering smoke off. But you child may not even encounter the smoke if the parents go outside to smoke. I wouldn’t worry at all.

it wouldnt bother me if they smoked i think its shows they are resposible by the fact that they do go outside and smoke
being a smoker doesnt make people bad parents, so if that was the only thing worrying you about your child playing there i would let them go and have fun

My husband is a smoker, but he only smokes outside, i’d be kinda offended if someone didn’t let their kid come to my house just because of that. What harm would it be to your child if they smoked outside? So many people smoke, and so many of them don’t even have the common curtisy to do it outside.

If they smoke outside, nothing is really wrong with that. Just make sure your kids knows smoking is not something cool some adults do for fun. And make sure he doesn’t smell like smoke when he comes back, if you do let him play at their house. Relax! If they won’t do it around their child, yours won’t be around it either b/c (s)he’ll be busy playing with his friend.

no, it’s not ok. even if she steps outside to smoke, it is still a bad example. if the child sees that she is smoking, she would think that it’s ok to smoke too.

well i would let them play, as long as she smoked outside. my son has asthma and can’t be smelling that crap…but its the same as being in a public place with someone walking by and smoking….

If you wouldn’t let your kids go to another child’s house because their parents smoke NOT IN THE HOUSE, you need to loosen up.
Your kids are going to have an awful life if you don’t let them do anything fun.

as long as she was able to look after your child’s needs i would be letting the child go over and if it is just normal smoke then yes i would let them go and play but if it was not just tobacco in the smoke then i would not be letting the child go over there without my presence as a parent

If she smokes outside, tell your child not to go near her when she smokes/stay inside-it’s ok.

Since my kids see grandma run out for a smoke every 30 minutes when she visits their friends parent’s wouldn’t be a worse example.
